The International Lab for Art Practices (ILAP) is an education program created by Uncool Artist for artists, curators, researchers, and anyone in the cultural sector aiming to pursue an international career in the arts. The program is structured to reflect a complete cycle of work––including group critique, process and research, and project––in which participants engage in a variety of activities ranging from theoretical discussions and research to the development of work based on a proposed project.

Artists, curators, critics, researchers, educators, and anyone in the cultural sector can enroll. ILAP was developed to foster creative and professional growth in an interdisciplinary environment.

ILAP will accept a maximum of 10 students per quarter.

Yes. ILAP was created for art professionals in different stages of their careers. It proposes an alternative to master’s degrees and serves as a platform for those seeking to continue engaging in critical discussions about the art world today and aiming to expand their networks.

Each program or course at Uncool Artist has the following structure and resources:

Time: All programs and courses at Uncool Artist are designed considering that people have different paces of work. We will help you to follow a schedule while keeping flexibility in mind.

Content: ILAP offers textual and video content. We also have live meetings. You can access all materials via a computer, tablet, or cell phone.

References: In each unit, there is a “question, provocation, and reference sheet” with several bibliographic sources and references for you to deepen your studies.

Assignments: Do not fool yourself! Although ILAP is online, you will have a lot of practice. Our methodology is based on propositions that will effectively put you into action.

Forum: All programs and courses at Uncool Artist have an exclusive discussion forum. It accumulates all content produced by participants during the program. This means that even after you have completed your studies, there will always be new content, references, and news developing.

Live meetings: ILAP has weekly meetings, so you will have the opportunity to chat with all of the participants in our LIVE sessions (through our powerful video conferencing tool). Uncool coordinators are available to answer all your questions about the content and assignments throughout the program.

Our programs also use other digital spaces, such as Microsoft Teams, which has resources for studies, interaction, and digital chat (in group or individual sessions) 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

To access Uncool Artist platforms, participants will need a Wi-Fi connection as well as a computer, tablet, or cellphone with a microphone and camera to interact with the group during live meetings. Participants will also be requested to download Microsoft Teams on their devices.

It depends. If you only enroll in the program for one quarter (12 weeks), the answer is 12 weeks of access.

If you continue in the program for other quarters or enroll in another course at Uncool Artist, you will have access for as long as you have an active enrollment.
